Glass reinforced Epoxy (GRE) lined tubing is extensively used in high-rate injector wells to reduce erosion and corrosion of the tubing and to aid injection efficiency.
A client in the Middle East had long-term concerns over the inspection of injector wells, as conventional inspection methods using calipers (MFC) and magnetic thickness tools (MIT) cannot provide accurate inspection of both the internal diameter of the GRE and the thickness of the steel tubing.

Using the Cereus Nusonix ultrasonic inspection tool and the proprietary Cereus signal processing, both the GRE and the tubing were comprehensively inspected to a high degree of resolution. The Nusonix tool providing:

Internal measurements of the GRE liner
Bond condition of the internal grout to tubing wall
Thickness of the steel outer tubing
