Trawling through some archives, we found a slide in a presenation by Paul Doust detailing where his expertise came from in the form of a SONAR ‘family tree. We’ve updated it to bring it to the future and include current Cereus Ultrasonics’ staff, showing the continued links.
It shows that our combined 148 years of acoustics knowledge stretches back to the end of the 2nd World War with a young engineer named John H. Mole who, at the time worked in the General Post Office at ‘Dollis Hill’ where the Enigma project was started. John was asked to join the Underwater Detection Establishment (UDE) on Portland, Dorset, UK to apply his communications filter knowledge to the world of SONAR.
As a background project, we’re filling in some blanks surrounding the people and history shown below, so if you know of anything, please get in touch!
